Breigh will work to ensure our campuses stay safe and secure and that our school environments foster a welcoming, positive atmosphere. She’ll advocate for sensible policies that maintain safety both on our campuses and in online spaces while also working to ensure our schools are places where people feel valued and truly supported. Only then can our students and staff focus fully on what matters most – learning.
Every child is bright, capable, and full of potential for success. But it’s our responsibility to put the policies and resources in place so that every kid has access to supportive pathways for growth and adults who value and believe in them.

As Director of Math, Science and STEM at the Louisiana Department of Education, Breigh led high-quality programming and aligned policy and funding for maximum impact. That work served as a model for other states and contributed to gains in student achievement statewide.
Ascension Parish is well positioned to lead with innovative, top-tier programs and facilities for STEM and the visual and performing arts, yet much of that potential remains untapped. Breigh understands how to improve and innovate without tossing out a strong working foundation.

As we place ever-growing demands on teachers without competitively compensating them, our schools become vulnerable to the shortages happening across Louisiana and the country. Ascension has worked proactively to hire and keep strong staff. That spirit has to be maintained and made comprehensive.
Breigh will advocate for competitive salaries, ongoing professional development and reliable school resources, while using her experience with balanced budgets and policy to manage funds responsibly.
